Birth Doula
A birth doula is someone who offers continuous emotional, physical, and informational support to a birthing person before, during, and shortly after childbirth. With a warm, reassuring presence, a doula helps create a calm and supportive environment, guiding families through the birth experience with compassion and care. While they do not provide medical care, doulas work alongside healthcare providers to ensure that the birthing person feels heard, respected, and empowered in their choices. Their steady support can ease anxiety, enhance comfort, and help make the journey into parenthood more positive, connected, and meaningful.
Postpartum Doula
A postpartum doula is someone who provides gentle, nonjudgmental support to families in the days and weeks following the birth of a baby. Their role is to nurture the whole family as they adjust to life with a newborn—offering guidance, reassurance, and hands-on help during this tender and transformative time.
Postpartum doulas support emotional well-being, assist with newborn care, and offer evidence-based information on topics like feeding, infant sleep, and postpartum recovery. They may also help with light household tasks while creating a calm, organized environment so parents can focus on bonding and healing.
“As an expecting mother, although I read books, visited online forums, consulted with family and friends, and took classes with my partner, I was still nervous about labor and birth. Having Designated Doula by our sides before and during labor took so much of the worry and anxiety away. She was able to answer all the questions we had about labor, delivery and post partum with grace and compassion.”
